Floorservice Parquet Polish Mat is a maintenance polish for lacquered parquet and wooden floors. Floorservice describes it as protecting the floor and making the surface water- and dirt-repellent, and it is based on poly-acrylate dispersions, which dry to a thin protective film over the lacquer.
The point of the matt version is what it does not do. A gloss or satin polish leaves a sheen, which on a matt floor reads as wrong the moment the light hits it. This one keeps a matt floor matt.
It is maintenance, not repair. It will not fill scratches, and it will not bring back a lacquer that has worn through to bare timber. At that point the floor needs recoating, not polishing.
Working figures as published by Floorservice for Parquet Polish.
Day to day, a lacquered floor is swept and cleaned with a pH-neutral cleaner made for lacquer. A polish is the occasional layer on top, three or four times a year, that takes the wear instead of the lacquer taking it. Over years, polish can build up, and that is what a polish remover is for.
It does not get watered down. Floorservice's instruction is to apply the product undiluted, straight onto a clean, dry floor.
Lacquered floors only, and not brand-new ones. Floorservice asks for lacquer at least three weeks old, and the product is not for waxed or oiled floors.
