Ciranova Maintenance Oil is made to refresh and protect timber floors finished with hardwax or oxidative oils, in high-traffic areas or on a floor that has started to look tired or patchy. Ciranova describes it as replenishing the natural oils in the wood, which helps prevent the floor drying out, dulling or wearing before its time.

It feeds the wood, it does not sit on top
A hardwax or oiled floor is protected by oil in the timber, not by a surface coat. As that oil wears, the busy spots dry out and start to read as patchy, so the fix is to put oil back into the wood rather than coat over the top of it.
Two things to get right
It is for hardwax and oxidative-oiled timber, not for lacquered or sealed floors, which are cared for differently. If the floor is new to you, test an out-of-the-way patch first.
Oil-soaked cloths and pads can heat up and catch fire on their own. Submerge used cloths in water straight after use, and never leave them screwed up in a bin.
How to apply it, and what to avoid
- Clean the floor first with a cleaner made for oiled floors, and let it dry.
- Apply a thin, even coat to the clean, dry timber.
- Buff it in with a white pad or cloth for the best result.
- Let it dry with good ventilation before using the floor.
- Submerge used cloths in water. Oil-soaked cloths can self-combust if left dry.
