One box, and everything in it matched to an oiled floor
An oiled floor and a sealed floor are cleaned with different products, and on a spray mop the piece that decides it is the cartridge. This kit puts the Bona Spray Mop that carries Bona's oiled-floor cleaner together with a spare washable pad and a 1 litre bottle of our own FirstFloor concentrate, so the mop, the pads and the cleaner are all matched to the same floor before the box is opened.

What is in the kit
- 1x Bona Spray Mop Kit for oiled floors - the mop, a refillable 850ml cartridge charged with Bona's oiled-floor cleaner, and a microfibre pad. No bucket, and a trigger you control the mist with.
- 1x spare Bona microfibre cleaning pad - the second pad, so one is always washed and ready while the other is in the machine.
- 1x FirstFloor Wood Floor Cleaner Concentrate, 1 litre - our own brand, mixed at 25ml per litre of water. FirstFloor states one bottle makes up to 40 litres.
The three pieces are matched to each other, not just to the floor. The Bona cartridge arrives charged, so the kit works out of the box; the concentrate is what you refill that same cartridge with afterwards, which is why the running cost of this kit is measured in litres of made-up cleaner rather than in bottles. The spare pad exists because a microfibre pad cleans well and then stops: two pads means the dirty one can go through the wash without the floor waiting.
The concentrate also suits lacquered and waxed floors, so if there is more than one finish in the house, one bottle covers all of them. The cartridge is the only part of this kit that is specific to an oiled floor.
Match the kit to your floor
The cartridge that comes in this kit holds a cleaner made for oiled floors. On a lacquered or sealed floor, choose the lacquered kit instead. If you are not sure which finish you have, a drop of water and about a minute will tell you, and the floor finish guide below walks through it.
Whichever cleaner you run through it, keep the floor damp rather than wet. Standing water is what damages timber, and the fine mist is there to control it.
The order to use it in
- Sweep or vacuum first to lift the loose grit, which is what scratches a floor.
- Use the cartridge as it comes for the first run. It arrives charged with Bona's oiled-floor cleaner.
- Refill it from the concentrate after that, at 25ml per litre of water. Mix only what you will use.
- Mist and mop along the grain, a section at a time, with a clean pad.
- Wash the dirty pad and swap to the spare. Never put a pad away wet and dirty.
