Our own-brand timber floor cleaner, sold as a concentrate. One 1L bottle makes up to 40 litres of ready-to-use solution (mix 25ml per litre of water), which works out to about $1.23 a made-up litre. Suits engineered oak, lacquered, oiled and waxed floors.

FirstFloor Wood Floor Cleaner is our own-brand timber floor cleaner, sold as a concentrate, so you mix only what you need and store the rest. FirstFloor describes it as lifting everyday dirt while preserving the floor's finish and character, on engineered oak, polyurethane, lacquered, oiled and waxed floors, and it works with spray mop systems including Bona.

A damp mop, never a wet one
Standing water is what damages a timber floor, so wring the mop or cloth out hard and clean along the grain. If the floor is unfamiliar, test an out-of-the-way patch first.
How to mix it, use it and store it
- Sweep or vacuum first to lift loose grit.
- Mix the solution. Add 25ml of concentrate per litre of water, in a bucket or a spray mop reservoir.
- Mop along the grain with a well-wrung mop or a spray mop, working in sections.
General good-practice steps. The dilution is FirstFloor's own (25ml per litre of water).
Do
- Mix it fresh for each clean, and only as much as you will use.
- Store the concentrate with the cap on, out of direct sun.
Don't
- Pour it on neat. It is made to be diluted.
- Over-wet the floor. A damp mop is enough.
