It clears the way for the oil to bond

Old soap residue and grime sit on the surface and stop a maintenance oil absorbing evenly. Ciranova describes Intensive Cleaner as cutting through that build-up, so when you re-oil, the oil soaks in and bonds properly, and the floor comes back evenly.

A deep clean, not an everyday one

Intensive Cleaner is for a deep clean, or to prep an oiled floor before re-oiling, not for routine weekly cleaning, which takes a gentler floor soap. If the floor is new to you, test an out-of-the-way patch first, and do not over-wet the timber.

How to use it, and what to avoid

Sweep or vacuum first to lift loose grit.
Apply the cleaner to the floor, by hand on small areas or with a buffing machine on larger ones.
Work it over the surface to lift soap residue, grime and spots.
Let it dry, then re-oil with a maintenance oil if the floor is due.

Ciranova describes it as applied by hand or with a buffing machine, with no rinsing needed in most cases.

Work the high-traffic zones hardest. That is where the build-up sits.
Go back to a gentler floor soap for the weekly clean from then on.

Don't

Over-wet the timber.
Use it on a lacquered or sealed floor.
